About US

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Amy Kelly and I own Magnolia Hills with my husband George. He is the love of my life. We have three children together, Benjamin, Barek Lee, Sydney Allyn and our adopted daughter Mary-Grace. We have my nieces and nephews helping us on the farm and riding some of the horses.

I have been riding since I discovered horses at the age of 10. I didn't have any specific horse growing up. I spent every waking moment of my horse loving years at The Barracks Stud. That's where I learned to ride. I always looked forward to the Winter/Spring training and Summer shows. I have several horses that I ride and show, although with my health issues that I’ve had recently, I have cut back and let some other riders show those horses. I’m currently not showing at all. I run all the shows! Hehe!

George is my husband of 24 years and has been my support through all of my health problems these last few months. I am so grateful to have someone as special as he is. He has taken over the care of the farm, the endless paperwork and handling the shows. George has been involved with horses almost as long as I have. He grew up on a farm and his horse growing up was Jumping Jack Flash. Flash was the reason that we met! Flash and George used to ride in the shows at the Barracks. I remember watching him and saying to myself, "He's good!" I'll never let him forget that "Flash" as he was called, bit my horse at a show and caused me to fall off! After that, we hit it off right away and had a teenage/college romance and have been together ever since. Flash was an outstanding mount for George. He is no longer with us, but we have his daughter Ms. Priss. She was born on his parents farm and when we got married, she came with us! Besides seeing George in the show ring, he will be flying around the farm doing various jobs that need to be done. He’ll flutter into the office to take a little break, have lunch and is gone again for the afternoon. George currently rides BlackDiamondRio, and shows Deq. Dun Hotroddin Again in the HWA halter divisions.

Benjamin Thomas is our second oldest child. Ben has graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Equine Science. He now works full time around the farm doing various jobs. He also shows BuckALuck in the Regular Working Hunters division.

Barek Lee is our 3rd child. Barek is now one of our top trainers alongside Mitchell. Mitchell is our head trainer Barek has followed his footsteps and is going to be a great trainer. He spends every spare moment with his dad and Mitchell. He rides & shows Lytle Bear in 1st Year Green Hunters, Upsy-Daisy is his Western Pleasure horse, MH High Roller, or Rolly, is beginning to show in Hunter Breeding Four Year olds and Pre-Green Hunters. He graduated at the top of his class in June and will be taking the year off to pursue his training certificate.

Mary-Grace is our adopted daughter, and she is the oldest of the four. She came to us when she was an infant. She's been riding since the early age of 3. She rides/shows/trains: Fantasia in Hunter Breeding Four Year Olds, Royal Phlush in Level 5 Show Jumping, DayDreams About NiteThings in Amateur Owner Hunters, and Valentine Ball in Medium Pony Hunters. MG was very excited when Fantasia came to live with us. She insisted on working with her, and it has paid off because they are now showing in the Pre-Greens. MG has been married to her long time sweetheart, Collin Morgan for almost 4 years. They currently reside in one of the cottages on the property.

Syndey Allyn is our youngest daughter. She was brought into HL as an infant, but we decided to speed age her to the age of 8. She is currently home schooled as our other children were, and that is so that we can concentrate on training and because of the shows we attend. She is currently in training and riding Rythmical BL in Pre-Childrens Hunters and did quite well at their first show together the first part of June.

We also have several barn cats, but only one who thinks he's human- Jinx. We don't have to worry about any of them being afraid of him, because they pay him no attention. Some of the younger horses, like to have his company while sleeping. Sometimes, you can find Jinx napping with one of the babies. He's been around horses all his life. I have had Jinx since the day he was born. He's a Manx; and if you don't know what kind of cat he is, He has no tail! Which makes him even more adorable! He is so loving to the visitors that we have here at MH. So if a gray and black striped Manx cat comes rubbing up against you, don't be alarmed, It's just Jinx!
